Emily Carr University of Art and Design
The Emily Carr University of Art and Design, named for renowned Canadian artist Emily Carr, is one of the oldest private post-secondary institutes in British Columbia. Established in 1925, Emily Carr is dedicated solely to learning disciplines in media, arts and design. Formerly known as the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, it was designated the status of university in September 2008. Emily Carr is a practice-oriented and professional educational environment that is also rooted in theory. Balancing studio time and academic programming, Emily Carr offers three undergraduate degrees in visual arts, design and media arts. A Masters of Applied Arts degree is also available, combining special skills, intellectual inquiry and critical reflection. Emily Carr combines state-of-the-art facilities and technology making it a completely wireless campus, located in the heart of Vancouver on Granville Island.
