Philip Guston Life

-Born Philip Goldstein in 1913 in Montreal.
-His father suffered severe depression and committed suicide by hanging, only to have his son Philip find his body at the tender age of 10. Philip coped with the trauma by isolating himself from his family and drawing.
-In the 1930s his paintings are slashed by the KKK
-Guston was hugely influenced by Surrealism
