-Born Marcus Rothkowitz in Russia 1903
-Emigrates to Portland, Oregon where he is a top academic and makes it into Yale - he drops out eventually and becomes an artist.
-By the 1950s he is considered an abstract expressionism master.
-Rothko becomes famous and wealthy and eventually commits suicide in 1970 at the age of 67.
